To put it in the context of early 20th century physics, some scientists found the problems with calculating Mercury's perihelion more troubling than the Michelson-Morley experiment results, and some the other way around. Rather, according to Kuhn, anomalies have various levels of significance to the practitioners of science at the time. There are anomalies for all paradigms, Kuhn maintained, that are brushed away as acceptable levels of error, or simply ignored and not dealt with (a principal argument Kuhn uses to reject Karl Popper's model of falsifiability as the key force involved in scientific change). This is based on features of landscape of knowledge that scientists can identify around them. The paradigm, in Kuhn's view, is not simply the current theory, but the entire worldview in which it exists, and all of the implications which come with it. Kuhn used the duck-rabbit optical illusion to demonstrate the way in which a paradigm shift could cause one to see the same information in an entirely different way.Īn epistemological paradigm shift was called a "scientific revolution" by epistemologist and historian of science Thomas Kuhn in his book The Structure of Scientific Revolutions.Ī scientific revolution occurs, according to Kuhn, when scientists encounter anomalies that cannot be explained by the universally accepted paradigm within which scientific progress has thereto been made. Compare as a structured form of Zeitgeist. Since the 1960s, the term has also been used in numerous non-scientific contexts to describe a profound change in a fundamental model or perception of events, even though Kuhn himself restricted the use of the term to the hard sciences. In contrast, a critic in the humanities can choose to adopt an array of stances (e.g., Marxist criticism, Freudian criticism, Deconstruction, 19th-century-style literary criticism), which may be more or less fashionable during any given period but which are all regarded as legitimate. Once a paradigm shift is complete, a scientist cannot, for example, reject the germ theory of disease to posit the possibility that miasma causes disease or reject modern physics and optics to posit that ether carries light. Unlike a normal scientist, Kuhn held, "a student in the humanities has constantly before him a number of competing and incommensurable solutions to these problems, solutions that he must ultimately examine for himself." ( The Structure of Scientific Revolutions). According to Kuhn, "A paradigm is what members of a scientific community, and they alone, share." (The Essential Tension, 1977). It is in contrast to his idea of normal science. For other uses, see Paradigm Shift (disambiguation).Ī Paradigm shift (or revolutionary science) is, according to Thomas Kuhn, in his influential book The Structure of Scientific Revolutions (1962), a change in the basic assumptions, or paradigms, within the ruling theory of science.

My greatest record shopping experience ever would probably be one of my earliest. Other than your own store, what and where is the greatest record store shopping experience you ever had? To my amazement and delight, Mars looked like a cool record shop!Īs for new vs old, I’d say 95% of the Mars inventory is used records. I brought my records in on Thanksgiving night and was up and running on Black Friday. I had one buddy build the record bins and the stage. I got the keys that Fall, and with a little help from some friends, we cleaned up the space and painted it. I already knew the landlord somewhat, so we felt comfortable working out a “pandemic deal” that was good for both of us. With the idea brewing in my mind, I started researching logistics and locations, and found myself back in the same zone as that vintage shop, but just next door. I’d been helping out a vintage shop on Piedmont Ave with a little record section which unfortunately had to close doors in the Summer of 2020. The window of opportunity came a little early I guess! I always thought I might spend my later years/”retirement” running a record shop. I’ve worked part-time at lots of record shops throughout the years, and in 2018 I started selling at local swaps and such. Finding them, collecting them, studying them, listening to them of course. I’ve always loved records, everything about them. With music venues closed and gigs canceled due to the pandemic, I found myself brainstorming what else I could do to make it through the times. I’ve been a full-time musician since 2005 – gigging, touring, and recording. I opened Mars Records at the end of 2020. How did you go about opening Mars Records? Glide recently had the pleasure of speaking with Adams about opening Mars, some of his coolest vinyl finds, and just what makes Mars different than other shops. Adams has toured with Brett Dennen, Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers and is a pillar of the Northern California music community where he can often be heard performing with members of The Mother Hips & more.Īdams can now add record store owner to his credits as he recently opened up the colorful new Mars Records in the Piedmont Section of Oakland. Steve Adams is that industrious artist who has been the longtime bass player in the California rock band ALO (Animal Liberation Orchestra) which is signed to Jack Johnson’s Brushfire Records. This is not the first time Velma’s feelings for women have been discussed. It’s no surprise that full-time musicians are obsessive record collectors, but it might raise an eyebrow of interest when that notable musician opens his own record shop. Velma first meets Coco Diablo in “Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo” #Scoobydoohistory /TnWGS0B5GK TEN YEARS AFTER A SPACE IN TIME DVD MOVIETwitter user Scooby Doo History has a clip from the new movie below… A nervous Velma brushes the comments off before declaring, ‘Oh, who am I kidding? I’m crushing big time, Daphne!'” ‘I didn’t know convicted felons were your type,’ she quips. Via Yahoo! Movies, one scene sees “ Daphne (Grey Griffin) teases her fellow mystery solver about the obvious attraction. The Scooby-Doo brainiac hilariously stumbles over her words and goes out of her way to let Coco Diablo know how she feels. While Velma has a dangerous type with her crush, it seems adorably normal, and like every other crush, we see in animation. In the new Scooby-Doo animated film Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!, we see Velma (voiced by Kate Micucci) as she develops a crush on Coco Diablo (Myrna Velasco), the head of a crime syndicate. Velma has a crush, and not surprisingly, it’s one of the new girls on the Coolsville block. Celui-ci se déploie en deux grands mouvements. We all have our own point of view and this point of view will continue to develop as time unfolds. In my life, I have always felt comfortable picking and choosing the ideas that I liked best so I certainly think that it's fine for you to do likewise. And I most certainly enjoy talking about my favorite subject: our true nature as this One, Divine, Open Awareness, the unborn Source and Witness of all of creation! I also enjoy relaxing at home with a good book and meditating. I enjoy outdoor activities including hiking, beach volleyball, running and bike riding. But for whatever reason, I stepped away from the typical "worker bee" lifestyle about 30 years ago and just get by the best I can with a very simple life. #Mind supermind santa barbara software#Long ago, I received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and spent some years in software design, technical support, computer training, and computer consulting. But I certainly offer a very unique perspective and you can find out more about that here: How My Teachings Are Unique. There are already many excellent books that cover some of the same topics that I touch upon in much greater detail than I do so I don't need to repeat what they offer. I am not planning on writing another book since this one covers all I want to say about spiritual growth and enlightenment. Instead, I see myself as a spiritual teacher who uses this book as a teaching guide. The first edition was released in the fall of 2013 and the second edition was released in April 2017.īut it may surprise you that I don't see myself as an author. “Buddha at the Gas Pump” Thomas Razzeto and Rick Archer on YouTubeĪs you can see, my book is Living the Paradox of Enlightenment. I also was a guest on Rick Archer’s podcast, Buddha at the Gas Pump. Graham Hancock twice selected me as his Author of the Month. I have been featured twice on the very popular radio show, Coast to Coast AM and in September 2012, I spoke for the prestigious lecture series, Mind and Supermind, which is run by Santa Barbara City College. This led to many invitations to speak publicly, both in person and on the radio. I started writing in 1999 and soon after that, I was posting my essays on my website. Timothy's satsangs were an excellent match for me and I attended every week from June 2005 until June 2016, when he and his wife Laura moved to Arizona. We all find our divine nature in our Awareness. While I had some intuitive understanding that this was indeed true, it was when Timothy Conway told me how this was true for all of us that the light bulb really turned on for me. I really liked these books and when I was around 30, I started to attended many live channeling sessions in my local area.īy the time I was 50, various people and channeled entities had been telling me for half of my life that I was divine. At that time, I read lots of books about Near-Death Experiences, the afterlife, spirit communication and so forth. When I was about 25, I started to look into the Seth material, as channeled by Jane Roberts. I have been interested in the deepest questions about life and God for as long as I can remember, starting with my very Catholic upbringing, which I felt strongly connected to until I was about 20 years old.
